The institute offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, as well as a post-master "Concert Exam". You can learn more about the individual main subjects on the relevant teacher profile pages.
The Bachelor's degree course (only) in the subjects recorder, harpsichord, lute and viola da gamba lasts eight semesters. In addition to the main subject and chamber music lessons, students receive essential basic training in core subjects such as music history, aural training and musicology as well as specialist modules in early music. In the last two years, students are also offered seminars on professionalization, which give them the best chance of integrating into the professional world after graduation. The final examination usually takes the form of a moderated concert together with the submission of documented research. A full overview of the course content can be found in the module handbook.

The Master's course is available for a wide range of historical instruments and baroque singing and lasts four semesters.
The practical part of the course is covered by the main subject lessons (1.5 hours per week), chamber music and continuo practice on the harpsichord. The theoretical subjects are taught in small groups and include musicology (16th - 18th century), ornamentation and cadenza design, historical performance practice and a range of electives offered from across the university. The final examination usually takes the form of a moderated solo and chamber music concert together with the submission of a documented research paper (other forms of examination are also possible - see module handbook for details). The wide-ranging curriculum guarantees a foundation that will equip students to meet the demands of the profession.

The concert exam is aimed at highly talented musicians and serves to promote particular artistic excellence. The course prepares students for a career as a professional concert soloist, for example. As a certificate course beyond the Bachelor's and Master's system, the concert exam focuses on teaching the main artistic subject.
